For a while now I have wanted to bring knitting and crocheting to my blog however I never found the right time too, or I wanted to get better at this hobby before I uploaded it online. Now that I have finished my degree and my blog will be saying goodbye to anything student related for now (until my graduation), I finally decided that my blog would have a complete revamp and all things new and exciting in my life would come into it. 

I have been knitting for a couple of years now however I haven't knitted much; I'm a very slow knitter! The first thing I ever made was a pair of baby booties, and then I made a newborn baby cardigan. My mum soon started to show me how to crochet and this took me a while to understand how to do properly, as i struggled to hold the yarn properly and that's something I struggle with when knitting! I know I'll find a way that suits me though, eventually.

After my mum finding the Drops Design Blanket called A Patch of Comfort, I decided I wanted to make my very own patch blanket but without following a specific pattern like the one mentioned above. I had also found very similar blankets where there were specifically four or five patterns for a square and these were all repeated in various colours around 10-15 times each and I knew I'd eventually get bored. Although I absolutely loved the different shades of brown and this was an aspect of the blanket I was going to use for my very own.

After borrowing my mum's 400 knitting stitches book, before purchasing my own 750 knitting stitches book, I decided I would use five different shades of brown, around 4-8 balls of each and knit a different square for each colour. Instead of repeating squares for each colour, I thought I'd make this blanket unique and have every square a different pattern and that's when I thought someone else could create this blanket too; whether it's in different shades of brown, multi-coloured or even different shades of another colour.

I absolutely love anything knitted, and it's something which you can make personal, give as a gift or even keep to cover your bed or cosy up on the sofa with; it's so versatile and you can make it however big or small you want to, you just keep going! So I'll be sharing each square and the pattern for it once they're complete for anyone who loves the pattern or would like to create their very own patch blanket.

The square above is called the "Seer sucker" stitch. 

Consisting of a pattern repeat of 4+1 stitches, + 1 on each end.

Abbreviations: K1: knit one, P1: purl one.

Cast on 47 stitches on a 4mm needle.

1st and 5th Rows: K1 (edge), *K1, P1, K1 P1*, until the last 2, K1, K1.

2nd and even Rows: Work as it shows.

3rd: K1 (edge), *P1, K3* , until the last 2, P1, K1.

7th: K1 (edge), *K2, P1, K1*, until the last 2, K1, K1.

8th: work as shown.

In total, do 8 pattern repeats of this 8 row pattern, and then cast off!
