2019 was the year I told myself I would read more; but I wouldn't exactly say that went to plan. I hoped to read at least 52 books but I think I ended up reading around 11, oops. I've always loved reading and enjoyed spending all day, everyday of my teenage years reading books back to back, mainly because I had nothing better to do. I bought a kindle hoping I would read more, especially when I go away so I don't have to drag so many books in a suitcase to another country, or even across the country - baggage weight and all.. However, I never really got into my kindle, and I much prefer having an actual book in my hands and being able to turn the pages. Not to mention, the satisfaction of seeing how far you're getting into a book, based on where your bookmark is, definitely makes it more appealing. 

I've decided to sign up to the GoodReads 2020 reading challenge, hoping to actually succeed this year. What I love about the GoodReads reading challenge is how you can choose exactly how many books you want to try and read. You can choose from the minimum of 1 book, to 200 if you really want. But you have to be realistic. Can you really read 200 books in a year? Hm, possibly, if you have 24 hours a day to read, but it isn't realistic. 

Originally I put my goal for 100 books, but I knew this wouldn't be completely realistic. So I brought it down a bit. Just over half way, to 52 books. One book a week. Despite working a full time job, doing my teacher training and completing a Masters degree, I can still say reading one book a week is  manageable. If I read more than 52 books, amazing! I'll be very proud. But I didn't want to set my goal too high. 

With GoodReads, you can also connect with others who also have an account, which is even better for those who are also participating in the challenge because you can see what others are reading, and what they are rating their books once they have finished it. - A fantastic way of finding new genres and Authors.
