P.S Matte Lipstick First Impressions

Good Morning
I hope you are having a wonderful day.

I'm going to start by saying, if you haven't tried Primark's makeup range then I think you should stop reading and go straight to Primark right now to check out their range; it is incredible! I always rave on about Primark's P.S range when it comes to nail polish; they're cheap, they're long lasting and you only need to apply one coat which is a real time saver, especially when you work and also study at University! However, I have recently come across their matte lipstick range and instantly fell in love. I have only seen two so far though which makes me feel slightly disappointed as I really want more. Hopefully they'll bring out a larger range of shades!

So let's get too it;
So I'm going to start off with the nude matte lipstick which Primark have brought out out in their "PS" range. I really like this nude because it's a genuine nude, it's very close to my natural skin tone but a little bit darker. When I first applied this, it looked like I had foundation lips which did make me smile a little bit but as my natural tan has worn off (as I went on holiday back in June), my skin is now pale enough to have the lipstick darker than my skin tone, which I was so thankful for! I really did not want to go out looking like I had foundation lips, even though I do not wear foundation.

I was expecting the smell of this lipstick to be the fairly gross smell which a lot of cheap lipsticks have, but it doesn't. So I was overall impressed with this aspect as I think the lipstick only costs £1.50, possibly £2. The smell isn't too bad!

The consistency of this nude lipstick is very very creamy, even though it's matte. It definitely does not leave you with dry lips like a lot of matte lipsticks do! However, you can still wear lip balm underneath if you'd like too; this wouldn't change how the lipstick applies! This nude is also very pigmented, I was shocked out how pigmented it really is; again because the price is cheap compared to some of the lipsticks you can find in the drugstore.

I have also tested this lipstick on how long it wears for, and even through drinking and eating it still stays put; which is everything you want in a lipstick, right? You don't want to have to keep reapplying it throughout the day!

If I were to give this lipstick a score out of 10, I would probably give it a 9; purely because it would be that little bit better if it was slightly darker and more of a brown/nude than a skin tone nude! But I do love it and it's a lipstick I now wear every week, if not nearly every day! I highly recommend searching for it next time you are in Primark.
I also picked up this very very dark purple shade matte lipstick which would have been perfect for a Halloween makeup look! Recently I decided I wanted to change up my usual makeup routine and I wanted to hunt for darker lipsticks as I would never usually wear one; I feel like I am far too pale to wear a dark lipstick and the shades always drain out the colour of my skin. However, without trying lipsticks I'll never know which ones suit me and which ones do not.

I love how this lipstick is just as pigmented as the nude one; you only need to apply one coat to your lips to have an even later which you very rarely find when it comes to the darker shades! Obviously, if you have to keep reapplying a matte lipstick; it will most likely dry out your lips which is something you really do not want especially now it's the colder months!

This shade is also just as creamy as the nude lipstick which is fabulous! For some reason I was expecting it to be a lot more drying on my lips, however this definitely proved me wrong! Unfortunately, something I struggled with when applying this to my lips is actually applying it in general. Although I was able to swatch it on my hand and feel the creaminess of this product, you really have to push down quite hard to have the lipstick actually apply to your lips in a smooth consistency. This has been my only disappointment so far.

Overall I am highly impressed with these lipsticks for the price of them, I was expecting them to be very poor quality but they certainly changed my mind! I love their matte lipstick crayons and I would definitely say the crayons are so much creamier and softer to apply to the lips but for £1.50-£2.00, you really cannot go wrong! Especially for a nude and a dark lipstick which are perfect for different makeup looks around this time of the year! Go check them out if you have a Primark near you.

Have you found your favourite makeup product from the P.S range at Primark? Let me know what it is.

I'll see you soon
