5 Things I Wish I Knew Before I started Blogging

Thursday, May 04, 2017

Good Morning
I hope you're having a lovely week.

As much as I love blogging, there are certain things which I wish I knew before I started blogging. Of course we all know someone or a lot of people who say that blogging is easy and anyone can do it. But is it easy? Let's be honest. It takes a lot of time, a lot of hard work and I think it's incredible how people are paid to be a blogger, because it is pretty much like having a full time job. I spend every single day blogging; I may not be writing a post, but I'll either be updating my instagram, my twitter, or even my facebook and then there's promoting your posts and speaking to other bloggers, or even speaking to brands. So it may look like I'm just scrolling through my social media for the whole day, but in fact I'm not. I'm doing my "job" which by the way, I don't get paid for. But we could call it a job/hobby. It's something we absolutely love doing but it takes commitment and a heck load of time.

1. How much time it takes up.
So I've already spoken about how much time it takes up, but I'm just going to mention it a little bit more. I'd say when I started blogging, it didn't take up a lot of my time; I chose when I would sit down and write one post, or even four/five posts for the month and that would be that. But when you start daily blogging or even blogging multiple times a week, that's when you're going to have no time, but no one tells you these things. No one told me I would be spending every spare minute blogging; whether I'm writing blog posts, planning blog posts or even taking blog pictures. I have to say, I do spend nearly hour thinking about blogging even if it's for a minute or so.

2. How Great British weather will really drive you more insane than usual.

We all know the Great British weather is pretty rubbish. I say pretty, it's really rubbish. It's either ridiculously cold, gloomy or it's raining meaning you're going to find it difficult to find a day to take blog pictures if you rely on natural daylight and when it's winter, it's even more difficult. I've now purchased a studio light because it makes my life easier, and whether I have a studio or natural day light, my blog pictures still look the same so it's not a big issue to me. But wow, I have never hated the British weather so much before.

3. How your battery will constantly be dieing, even if you charge it multiple times a day.
My battery used to die quite a lot anyway because I'm always texting someone, but I'm now charging my phone up multiple times a day to keep it going, purely because of things like Twitter, instagram and facebook feeds; it never stops going off. Portable charges are now my best friend.

4. That you will suffer with bloggers block at some point.
Something which isn't really spoke about in the blogosphere is bloggers block as it isn't something everyone experiences, so of course if you don't experience it; you're not going to mention it. But I never would have thought I would experience it until I did. What a pain that was. Writing an essay is difficult when you have no idea what to write and you generally cannot be bothered, but when you want to write a blog post but feel uninspired and unmotivated; it does get challenging.

5. There will still be bitches, everywhere.
Lastly, if you didn't know this already; there will be bitches and bitches will be everywhere. You won't get away from them, whether you're walking down the street or talking online. They're going to be there. I luckily enough haven't had to deal with many, but I have seen many situations with other people having to deal with them. Unfortunately the blogosphere isn't filled with 100% amazing people like you think, there will be people who are always out there just to wind you up!

As much as I dislike some of these things sometimes, I'm going to say this quick disclaimer; I love blogging, regardless of these five aspects. It makes it fun, exciting and brings challenge to my life!

I'll see you soon

  6. This entire blog post is just spot on. Before I started blogging, I had no idea how much time it would take up. Not just the writing itself, but everything else that comes with it - the photography, the promotion, the interaction... I never thought it would be this hard to combine uni and blogging! I would love to write blog posts more consistently, or maybe even more than just once a week, but it's just so hard to find the time.
