Keeping Your Car Safe This Summer

Saturday, May 27, 2017

Good Morning!
I hope you're having a fab week!

As someone who has been driving a car for over two years now, I have realised how important it is to continuously keep checking my car tyres, how much water is in my car, the oil, the washer fluid and everything else you need to keep checking to ensure your car is safe to drive. Now, something I do every single day is check my car tyres if I'm about to drive because their is someone down my road who does seem to like letting the air out of my family's tyres. Annoying, I know!

I have also recently had a rather irritating noise coming from my engine which definitely sounds like something is about to go boom (my brother thinks its my clutch). So I did go through the whole process of checking absolutely everything on my car, including going out to buy some car oil just to ensure I have enough so my engine doesn't die on me. But as a driver this is something you have to do regularly.

On the other hand, one of the other most important aspects of car safety and checking everything is working perfectly fine is ensuring there is always water in your car so it does not over heat, kill the engine or even set on fire (I actually saw this the other day when I was driving home). It may sound slightly extreme but this is a common occurrence in cars breaking down, purely because the car runs out of water and overheats, causing you to sit at the side of a road until someone comes to save you or until you can find water. I remember a couple of years ago we were outside a Kebab shop, had a 2 litre bottle and asked the men in the shop to fill the bottle up with water a fair few times until the car was drive-able again. But sometimes you have to do these things!

Although cars have their common problems under the engine, something we also forget about is the tread on our tyres. Whether or not our tyres are road legal and to be honest, this is something that I always forget to do as it's not something that crosses your mind when you're driving your car. I only know I need to replace one of my tyres because it came through as one of my advisories on my MOT, but if you leave it that long it could be potentially too late and your car then fails as it puts you in danger. If you have a car I highly recommend checking your tyres on a monthly basis, maybe even less than that just to ensure that you're tyres are safe! With the heat of the roads coming up, I can't imagine what the heat is actually doing to our tyres, especially when we're breaking normally or even an emergency stop.

If you are ever in desperate need of new tyres, there's such an easy way to get some new ones by booking online at Ossett Tyre House Website! It couldn't be any easier. All you have to do is simply enter in your car registration and they'll know exactly what tyres fit your car and that's all you need to do. On the other hand, if you're ever nearby you can go in and ask them to check the tread on your tyres if you're unsure; they're more than happy to help.

If you're driving this Summer, please remember to constantly check your water levels! Don't forget to also check the condition of your tyres and whether they're safe to drive on. I'd personally rather spending 5 minutes checking my car over before I'm about to drive it then the outcome of having wrecked tyres. Checking doesn't cost you a penny!

This post is a paid for collaboration however all thoughts and opinions on this topic are my own and have not been influenced by anyone.

I'll see you soon

  1. This is such a brilliant post Kimberley! Honestly, we grew up going to car shows with our Dad and our Dad knows everything about cars and can fix anything, but somehow we didn't quite pay attention to all the lessons! :p After a scary experience just a few weeks ago, we are now paying more attention to noises, tires and making sure we change our oil regularly. It can be expensive and we know that puts people off but it's worth it to not have terrifying moments on the highway or having to wait hours on the side of the road! :) You are so good keeping up with all that stuff and thank you for the reminder! :)
