My New Job!

Good Morning!
I hope you are having a great start to a new week.

I'm so excited to share some huge news with you although I'm sure many of you are aware of what has been going on recently anyway because I have plastered it all over my Twitter! But, I have a new Job! Yay! So this doesn't mean I have left my other job; it just means it's summer holidays and I needed a job so I have one; horaay! Double pay! As some of you if not all of you are aware, I work in a primary school two days a week working as a 1-1 support assistant for a boy with Autism while I study at University. As it is the holidays I knew I needed another job regardless of the fact I'm on a salary because I cannot spend six weeks doing nothing, even though I have my blog; I like to be busy (sometimes).

Sooooo, I am now working for Barracudas! Many of you are probably unaware of what Barracudas is as it's in the South East, East and South of England and I'm aware many of my readers are from America, Australia and all over the UK. So let me give you some insight.

Barracudas is an activity camp for the Summer and Easter period which runs in 40 different schools across a wide radius. I'm fortunate enough to have two camps near to where I live, one is only 15 minutes away and the other is 30 minutes so not too bad. The camps range between 4 and 14 year old's and some camps may only have 50 children whereas other camps have 250 (such as the one I work for). At Barracudas children take part in six different activities throughout the day, where each day staff members will be given a different timetable which has in total 12 activities to choose from depending on weather etc, but in total Barracudas have 80 activities which they can share with the children over the six weeks.

I decided I wanted to work for Barracudas last year because not only is it a summer job but it's related to what I'm learning about at University; safeguarding, health and safety, welfare of children and supporting their learning and regardless of the fact they're playing all day, they are still learning new skills on a daily basis. Also Barracudas will give me the confidence boost I need to work with and meet new people which is something I really struggle with, my nerves always get the best of me and it makes life difficult. As well as this, it will provide me with even more experience which will help me in the long run with my degree and even with the job I do in a school.

I'm sure there are many camps like Barracudas across the country but if you're in the South East/South, please feel free to message me if you'd like more information about what Barracudas is and what I get up to on a daily basis.

Yesterday was my first day and I have to say, it's great! It's long hours, and by the end of the day you're absolutely knackered but the day absolutely flies by and you're earning money in the easiest way possible; watching children enjoy themselves and be happy and that's what you always want.

I'll see you soon

Kimberley Jessica
